Fall Protection Competent Person Training

Description

The Competent Person training enables the attendee to be responsible for the immediate supervision, implementation and monitoring of a managed fall protection program. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a certificate acknowledging you have met or exceeded OSHA and ANSI requirements as a Competent Person and Competent Inspector.

This course includes in-class lectures including slides and video and hands-on scenarios applying theory discussed to practical workplace situations. This Competent Person training is a pass/fail program incorporating both written and practical examinations and is based on the requirements of the OSHA Regulations, ANSI Z359.2 as well as local legislation that will be discussed and reinforced. Attendees will learn practical solutions to difficult fall protection problems using appropriate tools and equipment.

Bob Barker
Owner, Safety Consultant & Trainer | BSafety Solutions

Bob Barker is the owner of BSafety Solutions, where he provides safety consulting and training backed by more than two decades of occupational health and safety experience. His background also includes work as a general contractor and plumbing contractor, bringing a practical perspective to workplace safety.

Before concluding his nearly 20-year career with 3M in April 2024, Bob served as a safety specialist, territory manager, and trainer in California and Hawaii. His experience spans safety education, occupational health solutions, and training for construction and general industry.
Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in finance from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University. His credentials include Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Certified Safety & Health Official (CSHO), and Advanced Safety & Health Official (ASH).

An OSHA Outreach Trainer for construction and general industry, Bob also serves as an OSHA trainer for California State University, Dominguez Hills. His training areas include fall protection, respiratory protection, trenching, scaffolding, mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, and forklifts. He is also qualified in engineered fall protection systems and provides EM 385, competent person, authorized person, and equipment-specific fall protection training.

GCA AGC Member: $1,000

Non-member: $1,250

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given to cancellations made 10 calendar days prior to the class kick-off. After such time, no refunds will be given. Replacements are acceptable and must be submitted via email to gca@gcahawaii.org.

GCA reserves the right to cancel programs up to 10 days prior to the start date if a minimum number of attendees is not met.
