IBC: Shallow Foundations

The International Building Code gives a number of specifications regarding the construction of shallow foundations. Because all construction projects will use shallow foundations (and not all will use deep foundations), understanding shallow foundation code requirements in the IBC becomes a critical point of reference for contractors and inspectors.

In this 90-minute lesson, we review the important code requirements in the IBC dealing with minimum footing dimensions, stepped footings for grade changes, frost protection, prescriptive footings, and much more. For comparison, this lesson also discusses additional deep foundation elements and includes great visuals!

In order to master these concepts, we recommend following along in the reference below while studying with this lesson. Please note that references are not included with purchase.
