The General Contractors Association of Hawaii (GCA)’s annual Build Hawaii Awards will recognize the best construction projects of 2025. This is your opportunity to shine! A panel of judges will review and score your entries to determine the Award of Excellence winners in each of the 18 categories. Projects that come within 3% of the winning project in each category will receive an Honorable Mention. The prestigious Grand Award will go to the project with the highest overall score among all of the Award of Excellence winners.

Your project could be one of this year’s winning entries!

• NOMINATED PROJECTS MUST HAVE BEEN COMPLETED IN 2025.

• EARLY BIRD ENTRY FORM AND $250 FEE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN 5:00PM ON APRIL 24, 2026. THE ENTRY FEE AFTER APRIL 24, 2026 WILL BE $350.

• COMPLETED ENTRIES must be RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM ON MAY 20, 2026.

• LATE FEE: A late fee of $350 per project, per day, applies for each day late, up to and including Friday, May 22, 2026.

• NOMINATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED by principals or officers of firms, or with their permission.

• Different phases or elements of the same project may be entered independently, but not combined as another total project entry.

AWARDS CATEGORIES:

ALL ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE:

1. The completed Entry Form.
2. A maximum 75-word summary to be used for promotional materials and read at the Build Hawaii Awards program. Avoid using technical terms or abbreviations.
3. A narrative explaining how the entry meets each of the following criteria.
   • How did your company promote the GCA of Hawaii during this project? (5 points)
   • Meeting the challenge of a difficult job (20 points)
   • Excellence in project management (20 points)
   • Innovation in construction techniques or materials/value engineering (5points)
   • Quality (10 points)
   • Sensitivity to environment and surroundings (5 points)
   • Excellence in client service (10 points)
   • Contractor's contribution to the community (5 points)
   • Safety (20 points)
4. Company logo and up to 8 high resolution photos of the project. Logo file should be in vector format (.ai or .eps). If you do not have a vector file, please send a high res (300 dpi or more) JPG or PNG. Photos should highlight the construction process, as well as the finished project and should be in JPG or TIFF format at 300 dpi or more. This will ensure that we can scale the image as necessary while maintaining the best quality and sharpest image. Each photo should be renamed in such a way as to identify the company and project (e.g. "GCA_building01.tiff"). This will help to ensure that your photo is correctly identified and placed.
5. Any supplementary materials available, including letters of commendation, press clippings from the project, programs from special events related to the project (ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, etc.) or other related material.
