CATHY CAMP
Executive Vice President, Real Estate
Central Pacific Bank
Cathy has over 25 years of commercial real estate experience and is currently Executive Vice President, Real Estate, at Central Pacific Bank. In this role she oversees the Commercial and Residential Lending Divisions and has responsibilities for the development and oversight of the bank’s real estate portfolio.
Prior to CPB, she was with Kamehameha Schools’ as Development Director where she led planning, development, and asset management activities in key strategic markets. Cathy also worked for Alexander & Baldwin where she had development oversight for many of A&B’s real estate projects and associated construction activities ensuring financial targets were met from acquisition through stabilization.
Cathy has degrees from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and Central Michigan University as well as undergraduate degrees in Economics, Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
She currently serves on the boards of Diamond Head Theater, Ka’Ohao School, NAIOP, ULI, and Child & Family Service.
GARRET MATSUNAMI
President
Castle & Cooke Hawaii
Mr. Matsunami is the President of Castle & Cooke Hawai‘i. In this role, Mr. Matsunami oversees all operations across the state, including residential, commercial, agri-tourism, as well as land management activities on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island. He fosters relationships on behalf of Castle & Cooke Hawai‘i with important industry stakeholders including those in the building and finance industries as well as with local and federal government entities.
Mr. Matsunami has been with Castle & Cooke since 2003, bringing over 20 years of leadership and experience to the company. Prior to joining Castle & Cooke, he held key roles at the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, where he managed construction and field operations and contributed to key long-range planning efforts. He began his career with the City of Los Angeles at the Hyperion Treatment Plant, one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in the world.
Mr. Matsunami grew up in ‘Aiea, O‘ahu, and is a proud product of Hawai‘i’s public school system. He graduated from ‘Aiea High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach. He also holds a Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Hawai‘i and a Certificate in Management from the University of Hawai‘i’s affiliation with the Hawai‘i Leadership Academy.
KAREN SAKAMOTO
Principal, Architect, and Interior Designer
Next Design, LLC
Karen Sakamoto is a Principal, Architect, and Interior Designer with Next Design, LLC, with over 35 years of experience shaping the built environment across the Hawaiian Islands. Karen co-manages a staff of 15, leading the design of various commercial development types spanning educational facilities, restaurants, retail spaces, corporate offices, and hospitality venues. Participating in design-build, design-assist and design-bid-build projects throughout her career, Karen focuses on an integrated approach to architecture and interior design to deliver cohesive, functional, and culturally responsive spaces that reflect the unique character of Hawaii.
