In today’s society, it’s becoming increasingly evident that mentorship plays a vital role in personal and leadership development. However, opening dialogue with a company executive can be incredibly intimidating making actively seeking mentorship difficult. The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) would like to invite you to practice just that.
Join us for the 3rd annual CLC Mentorship Night where you’ll have the opportunity to sit down with four of our industry leaders and grow your confidence in speaking with the big bosses. Get to know the steps they took to get to where they are today and engage in discussions to help you navigate the next steps of your career. MEET THE MENTORS:
STEVE BAGINSKI
President & CEO
Kaikor Construction Group
Born and raised in the small town of West Rutland, Vermont, Stephen Baginski has lived in Hawaii for the past 35 years since graduating from the University of Vermont in 1990 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Mr. Baginski has over thirty-nine years of construction and management experience from Project Engineer to CEO level. Under his leadership, Kaikor Construction Group has successfully completed hundreds of civil, structural and building projects for the City, State and Federal government across the Hawaiian Islands.
Additionally, during his tenure, the company has won numerous awards, such as multiple Build Hawaii Awards of Excellence, American Water Works Association (AWA) Project of the Year, Hawaii Historic Foundation Preservation Honor Award as well as numerous General Contractor Association of Hawaii Safety Awards.
Mr. Baginski has served as President of the General Contractors Association of Hawaii (2023) and also sat on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the GCA for many years. He still plays an active roll in both the GCA City & County Committee and GCA State DOT Committee.
As the President and CEO of Kaikor Construction Group, Steve Baginski has helped set the performance standard in Hawaii for structural concrete construction while establishing a position of leadership and serving the ever demanding construction community.
He currently resides in Kailua with his wife, Kaleo, of 30 years, where they have raised 3 children who have all returned to Hawaii after mainland college educations to pursue higher degrees and apply their knowledge to our great State.

HI.ARCH.Y LLP
Phillip Camp is the principal of HI.ARCH.Y LLP, an architectural firm with offices in Honolulu HI and Los Angeles CA that focuses on creative sustainable solutions for the built environment. Mr. Camp is a member of the AIA, ULI & USGBC and a licensed architect in Hawaii, California, Nevada, and Guam. Mr. Camp is also a LEED AP, WELL AP, Certified Energy Manager, and Certified Construction Manager. He is currently the President of AIA Honolulu for 2025.
Over the last two decades he has completed a multitude of award-winning high density residential, mixed-use retail and commercial office projects throughout the West Coast and Hawaii, along with 3 LEED Platinum Certified projects including the Keauhou Lane Mixed-use project and Hauoli Mau Loa Office Headquarters in Honolulu and the Kolopua Affordable Housing project in Princeville, Kauai. His latest projects include the Hawaii State Federal Credit Union’s Headquarter building in Downtown, Honolulu, which opened August of 2023 and an ongoing project with Castle & Cooke Hawaii for their Koa Ridge Community Center.
RANDY HIRAKI

Randy Hiraki is the founder and President of Commercial Plumbing Inc., one of Hawai‘i’s largest plumbing contractors. Nearly 40 years ago, he launched the company from his garage, and over time, transformed it into an industry leader with a diverse portfolio that includes hotels, hospitals, high-rise residences, and more. Randy began his career as a plumbing apprentice right after high school, later expanding his business knowledge to build the company on innovation, integrity, and excellent customer service.
A firm believer in the power of loyal, skilled employees, Randy’s greatest goal is to mentor and train his team so they can eventually run the company, achieving success and creating opportunities for future generations of home-grown talent. He is committed to fostering an environment where employees understand that a thriving business must give back to the community. Under Randy’s leadership, Commercial Plumbing Inc. is now employee-owned, with nearly 250 employees, and continues to focus on supporting local industries and charitable efforts.
ALANA KOBAYASHI PAKKALA

Alana Kobayashi Pakkala is the CEO of Kobayashi Group LLC, with over two decades of experience in Hawaiʻi real estate development. Since 2020, she has guided the creation of more than 2,067 residential units, balancing 40% luxury and 60% affordable housing, which has contributed to $2.22 billion in real
estate activity. Her work spans the residential, hospitality, retail, non-profit, and government sectors, with notable projects including Park Lane Ala Moana, Hale Kālele, and Hyatt Andaz Maui.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Alana is a graduate of Punahou School and earned her degree cum laude from Georgetown University. She is dedicated to creating best-in-class, sustainable projects that enhance the quality of life in the islands. Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children and O‘ahu Transit Services Inc. Honored with the Woman of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi, Alana values integrity and collaboration in her efforts to support local communities.
