GCA is proud to be partnerering with AGC of Colorado and the Construction Mastery Institute to provide Project Engineer Bootcamp, Units 1, 2 and 3!

Project Engineers (PE) are critical to the success of the project. You've heard the statement that "information is power", well the PE typically controls and has the most information about the entire project, putting them in a powerful position.

This Bootcamp picks up where higher education leaves off and is intended for Interns or Project Engineers who are early in their construction careers, including graduates with up to 7 years of experience. The Bootcamp also benefits Craft Leaders or Administrative Staff looking to transition into Project Engineer role.

Unit 3: Finishes 

Mondays and Wednesdays, April 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 2:00 – 4:30 PM MT

Session 1: Unit Introduction and Change Management Techniques
This session outlines the importance of managing change on commercial construction projects. The focus will include reviewing documents such as Requests for Information (RFI’s), Submittal Comments, and Change Directives to determine the scope, time impacts and overall entitlement to changes in the Contract. In
addition, the process of notifying subcontractors, performing quantity take-off and pricing the change will be covered.

Session 2: How to Communicate and Motivate Your Trade Partners
Good Trade Partners can make or break a project. In this session you will learn how to communicate with mutual respect that leads to strong working relationships while maintaining accountability.

Session 3: Quality Management Techniques for Project Engineers
The construction market is competitive and no company can afford to install, demolish, and re-install materials and equipment not meeting the contract documents. In this session you will learn tips and tricks to manage the quality process so work is completed right the first time leading to high quality timely installations.

Session 4: Owner/Architect/Engineer Communication Techniques and Managing Expectations
This session includes soft skills for effective communication with the Owner, Architect, and Engineer. Discussions include how to handle yourself as a construction professional while delivering tough messages and managing project expectations. In addition to discussions relating to career timelines, zippering strategies for relationship building and how to preposition as a Project Engineer to secure your next Project.  

Session 5: Developing Schedule of Values, Pay Applications, and Monthly Owner Draws
This session includes techniques for developing the Schedule of Values (SOV) from an estimate. This process is used to establish the Budget for the Pay Application. Pay Application development includes work completed as a percent complete of the line item scheduled value, stored materials, balance to finish, and how to update applications from one billing cycle to the next.

Meet the Instructor:

Dan Rondinelli graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management and built commercial construction projects for 34 years. Dan has also been teaching plan reading, quantity take-off, and estimating part-7me for CSU since 1999.  Dan holds a “Class A” contractors license in the City and County of Denver and is a Certified Cost Professional.

Cancellation Policy
A full refund will be given if notification is received by five business days prior to the course start date. If a cancellation is received with less than three business days before the class, or if registrant(s) chose not to attend, the registration fee is forfeited.

Low Enrollment
GCA reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any course within 48 hours f the scheduled date due to low enrollment. Attendees will be notified by email of any changes or cancellations.
